Cruisin' Along in December

A couple weeks ago Eric's Dad told us he had found a deal on Groupon or something for a fun boat ride down the Provo River. We all decided that Tuesday, the 4th would work best for all of us.

Well a few days before the 4th some things came up and so Eric's parents weren't going to be able to go with us after all. Eric's Dad still wanted us to go and so he gave us our tickets and the other ones he had purchased. We asked our friends, the Wildings and the Wards to come with us. The Wildings agreed and the Wards wanted to, but the man of the house had to go out of town for business and Heather being 8 months pregnant didn't want to take all 5 of her kids by herself, totally understandable.

So Tuesday came around and we drove our separate ways and even though we left 10 minutes before the Wildings they caught up with us on the freeway. We did stop at the gas station for a few drinks and that's probably why. Either way it was nice because we got there at the same time and it was probably less stressful that way.

We get there and it isn't crowded at all. Eric asks the ticket girl if there's room for all 13 of us on one boat ride, she looks at her computer and says yes there is. We only had to wait like 15 minutes for the next boat ride. The men got life jackets on all the kids (since they are all 12 and younger and it's a good thing they supplied them cause I didn't even think about it) and we waited for our captain to come greet us.

...Gives a whole new meaning to the term, "Marshmallow Children, Bundled Up So Tight"...

...He wanted a picture with Shaylyn and she moved, which made him sad...

...So I take another one and Nate doesn't look and Shaylyn gives me this face....

We met our captain, whose name was Abe and we were set to walk to the dock and get on the boat. It was a very leisurely ride and the captain didn't even steer the ship he just held onto guide ropes above the boat. We loved how slow paced it was and the kids were loving all the lights along the route. We even met up with Santa who was riding in a Canoe!!! We didn't really go all along the Provo river, just along the property line of the family that does this which was enough for a half hour trip.

...Captain Abe...

...She LOVED all the lights...

...And of course, the picture I like best of me is the one where Eric's closing his eyes...

Besides just being with friends and our family during a peaceful, calm ride the best part about this 'cruise' was that the last thing they took you to was a statue of Christ and Captain Abe made sure to remind us that even though Santa was fun and it was fun to meet up with him and hear his story, the real reason for the Season is Christ. LOVED IT! I know my mother in law would've loved that part too. Eric's Dad would've loved to see Ailey's reactions. We really missed them, but know that what they had to do instead was much more important.

After the ride, we decided to take family pictures. Um well, the Wilding children are so cooperative and they had a great family shot after just one! SERIOUSLY. We had our turn and well, we didn't even get one...

We then went our separate ways. Wildings went their way and we went to dinner at One Man Band Diner. So yummy and it was the perfect way to end the night!
