Just like she does every year, my mom did her Christmas Countdown. This really is something the kids look forward to yearly and they always have such fun with it.
And as always, she likes to keep it somewhat gospel centered so that the kids remember what the season is really all about. This year she had a song and a scripture to go along with each day and we had fun listening to music and then talking about the scripture.
DAY ONE
SCRIPTURE: Luke 1:30 and 31
"And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS."
SONG: The Nativity Song - Verse 1
"This is the season beloved of the year.Sing a rhyme; Christmas time soon will be here.
Tell the true story of Jesus' birth,
When, as a baby he came to the earth."
We were pretty certain it had something to do with baby Jesus, but we quickly discovered we were wrong.
It was a Little People angel and Mary. I still thought it was cool and then realized the scripture had been all about the angel appearing to Mary.
