Keepin' Cool

So our annual camping trip with our friends didn't happen this year.

We had discussed possible dates and we had originally planned it for one of the first weekends in June, but it turned out that that was the weekend for Tanis' Scout Camp and because Tanis would be going and one of our friends families also has a 12 year old that would be going, the date had to be pushed back.

The next date was chosen and as I was talking to Eric about it, he decided that due to family issues and me being pregnant, we just didn't want to chance it this year. Turns out the dates didn't work great for other families either - so we decided we'd have a day out together.

On June 28, we went to Seven Peaks. Each of the families has that Pass of All Passes, so it only cost us parking. Sadly, it was crazy crowded - but we made the most of it. We got there probably around 11 and after meeting up with our friends, we played in the water for a couple hours.

We then decided it was time to eat lunch. Knowing that food in places like Seven Peaks can be quite expensive, we had planned ahead and bought stuff to make sandwiches and have a quick little picnic lunch outside of Seven Peaks.

After lunch we headed back into the park and played in the water some more. Eric was a great helper and helped me with the 2 youngest before lunch, but after lunch he decided he needed to get Tanis involved in something since he was just sitting around.
That meant that I was watching Nate & Ailey pretty much alone. One of our friends, Anthony had taken his son to the kiddie area and our kids followed. I was waddling behind. By the time I got to the kiddie area, Anthony had convinced Nate to get in the water, which hadn't happened all morning. In the span of about 5 minutes, Anthony had Nate convinced to play without hanging onto an adult. (He had a life jacket on) It was so much fun to see Nate play around and actually enjoy himself. Ailey didn't let me leave her side, however.

Eventually, Anthony took off to do something else and our other friend, Heather had shown up to help watch kids. Heather prefers and area below where we were currently at, so her kids kept going there. Nate was quick to follow and kept going back and forth, back and forth.

This pregnant mommy could only handle the back and forth so long and finally decided it was time to just go hang out in the shade and I was ready to call it a day. Along the way to our little 'area', I saw Eric. He was with Anthony and Anthony's son and they were going to go do one of the bigger slides.

While waiting, Shaylyn came back to our area and said that she was in line to do one of the big slides, but saw Eric and told us, "My Dad ruined my self-confidence."

He was just messing with her and told her good-luck or something and that was enough for her brain to scare her away from doing it. After a few minutes her friend, Gavin came back from doing that slide and tried to convince Shaylyn to do it again. He told her he'd pay her a dollar (and he did) if she went on it. So, she did and she said she had fun.

While waiting for the 'big boys', I took some pictures. All the little boys were having fun playing on the floats while they were on the ground. I wanted to get pictures of the kids IN the water, but because I had kids clinging to me practically the whole day - it just didn't happen. (I was afraid of dropping my camera in the water and ruining it)

The following pictures were all taken by Ailey:

We got home around 7:30 and got ready to meet up with all our friends again for a BBQ. We had invited another family to join us for the day, but they couldn't come to Seven Peaks, so they had been waiting all day for the BBQ. We felt so bad.
We finally ate around 8:30 and the kids had fun jumping on the tramp and running to the park that is literally in our friends backyard. We then had a fire (in a firepit) and did the S'more thing. I don't think any of us really missed camping and we still had a fun day. It was extremely long, but fun.
