25 Little Things About Me

Posted by with 3 comments
So here are 25 random little tidbits about me right now...It was a tag from Facebook, but some people aren't on Facebook, so I thought I'd post it here as well.

If you feel like filling this out as well, go for it!

As Promised - - A Year Ago...

Posted by with No comments
So last year right about this time I had a "project" that I was so very excited about. I thought I would have the project completed in no time at all, but as it turns out it took me a whole year to do and it still isn't 100%.

Anyway, so last January we decided we'd better look into finding a new bed for Shaylyn. She was using part of the bunk bed and Lex had the crib. Because we would need the crib in April we had to do some moving around.

We put the bunk bed back together and had Tanis sleep on the top and Lex on the bottom, but then Shaylyn was out of a bed.

I got on KSL classifieds and looked around. I eventually ran across a cute, girly frame that I just loved and I hoped Shaylyn would like it as well. Plus it was less than $200. We did have to drive to Layton to pick it up, but it was worth it. The frame was in great condition.

Around this same time, my mom bought my brothers new mattresses, so we got a free mattress for her as well. It all worked out just right.

The lady who sold us the bed, also had a bunch of other items to go with the frame - including a sheet set and a few decorative things. All for the same price she mentioned in the ad. I think we got a killer deal.

Here are pics of Shaylyn's completed room.

More Hair!

Posted by with 3 comments
So, it was time once again for the boys to get their haircuts. It was long overdue.

Tanis is always a trooper and cooperates pretty good. He gets anxious when I have to take the guide off of the razor to take care of stray ends around the ears and on the neck, but other than that he is great.

Lex is always a little restless and most often screams. I usually have to have Eric hold Lex in his lap to cooperate. However, last night he was a totally different child and cooperated ever so nicely.

I finished the older boys and then had a dilemma. Do I try and shave my 9 month old? His hair was getting long and something had to be done, but do I dare do it myself. Well I finally gave in and gave Nate his first haircut.

And how did he react?

He laughed at first, probably cause it tickled and then he just got annoyed. Not the screaming, crying annoyed. Just the annoyed where he didn't want to hold still and just wanted to be moving around.

I've been anxious about his hair cut since I did it, but then this morning I read my friends blog and I decided it was okay after reading that her 7 month old already had his 2nd hair cut. Then again, his grandma was a hair stylist for many years...

And for those of you in the ward, I was not trying to copy the Balls. I've always preferred having my boys heads shaved because then it takes little to no effort to take care of their hair. :D

Anyway, I leave you with a cute before and after shot of my little trooper.

Blowing 9 Raspberries...

Posted by with 1 comment

Yesterday, Nathaniel hit the 9 month mark. It is so hard to believe that in just 3 short months he will be a year old. It's crazy how time flies.

At 9 months Nathaniel:

* Responds to his name

* Knows his family and gets scared around strangers

* He holds his own bottle

* Loves Biter Biscuits and Banana Cookies

* Eats some "grown-up" food (Don't tell the pediatrician)

* Can sit up unassisted and for long periods of time

* Crawls

* Pulls himself to a standing position holding onto furniture

* Babbles

* Says "Daddy" or "Dad" about everything

* Just starting to "cruise" furniture

Nathaniel also loves to blow raspberries and I caught it on video the other day. Enjoy!

It's Gone!

So there was a small hiatus with me posting anything - I would love to say that it was because I was on a tropical island getaway, but alas, no. It's just that there wasn't really anything happening that I felt needed posting - until now!

Saturday afternoon, Shaylyn and I took a trip to the hair salon. The salon we go to is in West Jordan, so it is kind of a trip for us. I go to that specific salon because my cousin's wife is owner and she cuts our hair. It's nice to have a family member that I know and trust be our "stylist".

Shaylyn was long overdue for a trim, so we just had her hair trimmed up to look healthy. I can't tell you how long it had been since she had even a trim. It was just time and it looks so much better now.

(I know you can't really see the ends real well in the pic, but trust me, it looks better)

As for me, the plan was a trim to keep my hair healthy and looking it's best. However, when the time came I decided I was ready for a change and I had her actually CUT not TRIM my hair. Remember I trust this person, so I wasn't scared at all.

After all was said and done, I loved it. I still love it, but at times miss my longer hair... (Pretty sad since it's only been 3 days.) Oh well. It's been a good change and I can't believe how much less time it takes to do. That has definitely been a blessing.
And of course, I am leaving you with pics of it... Though, I am tempted not too because I am a goof.

And while we are on the topic of hair, Shaylyn and me....

Friday night (Yes, while Eric was working) I decided to once again take a stab at making some bows. When I first planned to do the bows I found some purple ribbon that I wanted to use. But since it was close to Christmas when I finally got around to doing it, I did Christmas first.

Anyway, Friday night I finally made the purple bows and loved them.... It even took less time and I read less of the instructions and followed more of an example.

Then Shaylyn decided she wanted to try her hand at making a bow... I set her free. She did a pretty dang good job (if I do say so myself) and she just eyeballed an example.

The Better Spouse

Posted by with 2 comments
So, lately I've decided that Eric is a much better husband to me than I am a wife to him. There are many reasons for this, but let me illustrate one such example for you.

Monday, Eric left for work around 7 and didn't get home until 1 in the morning. Yes, you read that right he was at work for a good 16 hours or so. (And now you are wondering why that makes him a better spouse? Keep reading...)

He came home and went straight to bed and left for work again Tuesday morning around 6. He was supposed to only work until noon, but as luck would have it - things went wrong, AGAIN, so he wasn't sure when he would be home.

He had plans to go with the Elders Quorum and some High Priests (I think) to our local Family History Center as part of his new calling, around 7. He called me at about 6:15 and told me he was running behind, but he should be home right around 7:00 and if any of the men showed up (since they were meeting at our house) to tell them to wait and he'd be right home.

At 7:00 on the dot, one of the men showed up. He's not a Brother I have really ever talked to, so we spent about 20 minutes of silence before Eric showed up. Long story short, none of the other men showed up, so at 8:00 he and this other brother just decided to forget it and the brother went home.

Now in the meantime, I told Eric that I really had to go grocery shopping and since he uses "my car" to go to work because it's safer, I am without a car. I had planned to go on Monday night, but since Eric had to work late, my plans were foiled.

So, Eric told me that he would be willing to go get the groceries for me after his night with the Elder's. But, since he didn't end up going with the Elders, we all decided to go grocery shopping together.

Keep in mind, he hadn't had much sleep the past night and he was working under very stressful circumstances at work, and he could have just told me to go and he would watch the kids. But, no. He sacrificed his night for a very boring task.

I hate when he does stuff like this because I feel I fall short. I have lots of selfish issues to work out and to be more willing to support him when he needs it. Guess I need to start following his example.

So there you have it folks - a mushy post about my life.

First Attempt at Digital Scrapbooking *FIXED*

Posted by with No comments
*Since Photobucket makes me want to kick their bucket, I decided to make the slideshow on Slide. Enjoy*

So, for my Grandma's Christmas gift, I made a "Birthday Calendar" scrapbook of sorts. My hope was that it would save her the hassle of transferring birthdays to a calendar every year. The following slide show shows each of the pages.
