Happy/Serious

Posted by with No comments
I'm not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the line, Shaylyn taught Jace about expressions. And he was a superb student and has learned how to make a happy face and to make a serious face, and his serious face is HILARIOUS!

So one day I had my phone with me and Jace was making his faces and since all little babies love seeing themselves on camera, we sorta got it to show the rest of the world. Enjoy!

...That's his happy face, if you couldn't tell...

This kid knows how to keep us laughing!

It's The Wearin' O' The Green, Dontchaknow?

This year the kids all got new shirts for St. Patrick's Day, but did I think to get any pictures of that? No. Jace even had cute little jammies for the occasion. Maybe I went a bit overboard. However, we made a bit of the day more festive.

We started out our day visiting Nate at school to view all of their leprechaun traps. I showed Nate a few ideas and he wanted to do one that incorporated Lego's. I was all for it until I saw that we have a very small number of green Lego's. What's with that?

So we still did it working with what we had. Nate was also in such a hurry that it really didn't look real 'St. Patty's Day' themed. I did let him paint the pennies gold and put them where he wanted. So overall, he was happy. I felt bad that it wasn't more festive though.

For dinner, I kept things fairly simple - but we had a green meal. (Minus the rolls) We had chicken fettucini (or whatever type of pasta I used), cucumbers, rolls and I made a fun drink. I dyed what I could green and it meant that a few of the little kids were scared to eat, but they soon discovered everything tasted the same.

We then had dessert, which is something we don't have on a daily basis. I made a fun pudding thing that I found a few years ago and we topped that off with chocolate covered pretzels.

Gamers Inn

In a previous post I mentioned how Eric's friend, Anthony, bought a game store from another family in the neighborhood who had to move out of state due to a new job offer. I also mentioned that Eric helps Anthony out a lot and is an unofficial co-owner/employee - whatever. I don't think they've actually given Eric any sort of official title.

Anyway, Eric's mom had come out to visit with me and the kids one day and while she would, of course, love to see her son - he had to be at the store that night. Eric told me to convince his mom to come see the store. Somehow after dinner, I did.

I took all the kids, a friend and mom and showed her the store. We were there on a free Magic tournament game night or something, so it was crazy busy - but mom was sure to get some pictures.

It was a good night and though we only stayed for a few minutes, I could tell Eric was happy to see his mom and vice versa.

And now for a shameless plug: if you happen to be in the vicinity of Lehi, stop in. They don't just specialize in 'nerd' type games, there's lots of board games. They are really aiming to be a family game store. Also, if you want to see what Eric's spent most of his time doing, you can check out the website. He's been programming that and in the near future, you'll be able to buy off the site.

Cabela's Field Trip

Posted by with No comments
It was time for another preschool fieldtrip. The place this time: Cabelas. It's nice that we have one within a half hour of us. So Ailey's been there a couple times in her life, but I don't think we'd been in a year or so, so it was still new to her.

We started off with a tour of the place. We went through the big aquarium and the kids were going crazy seeing all the big fish. We toured the rest of the bottom floor and ended up feeding the fish in the pond. Ailey really enjoyed it and loved watching the fishies go for the food.

After feeding the fish, we headed upstairs where the kids were treated to a free piece of fudge. (Okay, so were the adults) Then the kids got to go to the shooting gallery. I missed Ailey doing that because I had to run to the cafe to pay for a sucker Ailey wanted and the guy couldn't figure out how to work the cash register for something one of my friends was buying.

Ailey seemed to have a really fun time at Cabela's, but I think the funnest part of the trip for her was having a lot of her friends in the same car with her going to Cabela's and then going home with one of her best friends and stopping at another store on the way home.

Curiousity Is A Good Thing

Posted by with No comments
What do you two with two little ones to keep them out of the way while new floors are being installed? It was a good question and for once an answer came quickly.

Originally when the flooring was being installed, I thought I'd take advantage of Eric being home and just go back to sleep for awhile. But, in good conscience I couldn't just lay there. I felt guilty and knew Eric was still trying to get some work done and he shouldn't have to watch the kids as well. So, I decided I'd take the kids to the Curiousity Museum to kill a few hours and keep them out of the way of the installer. Plus, it would be a free venture for us since we have a membership.

Thankfully it wasn't too crowded and I was able to let Ailey and Jace wander around to the hearts content. Ailey had lots of fun feeling like she was making all the decisions about where to go and what to do.

Jace had a great time being unrestrained in a stroller and being able to explore anything that caught his eye.

I hadn't originally planned on taking pictures and left the real camera at home, but then these kids were being super cute and I pulled out my phone. Sometimes it's nice to live in a digital age.

LET'S CALL IT A DAY

Because Ailey had been good and it hadn't cost us anything to go to the museum, I said she could get a toy. Well the stupid cashier was hovering over us and wouldn't leave us alone and so I just had Ailey grab something quick. The cashier then told me that the big stuffed animals were like 40% off or something with a purchase so I got Jace a huge (I'm talking same size as him) monkey (Monkey is my nickname for him).

We were also hungry so we decided to eat at the place they have there. That was a bad choice. The food is super mediocre for the price they charge.

We headed home and stopped to get Eric some lunch on the way. We got home to discover the floors weren't quite done and the guy had stopped for lunch. I felt bad bringing the kids back when he still had a bit of work to do, but Jace was now taking a nap and it was easy to keep Ailey out of the way.

It was a super fun day out with my 2 babies.
